EANA's position on task delegation in private health care

During its meeting held on June 15, 2018 in Berlin, EANA ( European Association of Private Health Care ) acknowledged the following elements :

The establishment of task delegation between doctors and health care professionals first requires the harmonization across Europe:

1. professional training, the only way to guarantee high-quality health care ;

2. objectives for this task delegation ;

3. legislation respecting each national sovereignty ;

4. device assessment ;

EANA , which represents European private practitioners and specialists, requests that the notion of task delegation coordination between doctors and other health professionals is expressed explicitly, for two key reasons :

1. The implementation of clear processes for all participants is a way of guaranteeing quality and relevance of health care and this guarantee must be imposed on all doctors and health care professionals, with a particular aim of reducing the occurrence of undesirable incidents ;

2. The implementation of clear processes for all participants protects both the doctors and the health care professionals in any event in which responsibility is sought.

Hence, any task delegation between doctors and health care professionals must be done in respect of the practitioners and in accordance with their respresentative organizations.
